Finally found a Miles Davis album I am able to connect with - Sketches of Spain. Love the orchestration, often reminds me of Ravel.

Holy crap, Tyson?? How have you been around audiophilia all these years and just now come across Sketches of Spain??? That was my first introduction to jazz back in 196? An older friend gave me a copy along with Beethoven's 9th-both eye openers for a high school kid and Led Zep fan.
I've got many copies, mono and stereo, from a really early pressing to the MFSL version (which is really nice). The orchestration was by Gil Evans. You might like some others they collaborated on. Check out "Miles Ahead" and "Porgy and Bess".
