Many moons ago, I was a big rack mount guy.  I had a couple of racks filled with equipment and even cut the tracks in half in one rack to mount 19 inch wide Phase Linear equipment which was not rack mountable.  Having stuff in a sturdy studio rack is nice and easy to get to vs. some modern furniture.

Ordered my 4B-SST2 this last Spring Black faceplate with handles.
Handles really do make it easier to move around.. even if i never do move it! LOL.
Handles make it look like a big amplifier. Without handles, it looks 'wimp'ish' In like: what is that big dumb thing?, where WITH handles anyone* knows it is a big amplifier (*anyone who is even a little interested in stereo stuff)
Just call me old fashioned.  8)

On Bryston's homepage:
The homepage is good information on the component's specifications (technical).
Suggestion for improvement: Picture of the amps with and without handles.

I'd like even one a bit further.  A picture of the amps as they would be displayed on a nice amp stand or audio furniture.  A cool looking studio 19 inch rack with spacers and amps would bring to light how they look in a typical environment.  Perhaps even James setting up a gallery and choosing what he thinks in the best looking customer set-ups.

Hi Phil,

i like that idea - a thread that allows people to show their systems with pictures.

I take the handles...looks professional and the mass adds greater heat dissipation. :thumb:

I have had a late 80s 4b & 3b with handles, also a pair of 7bsst2 silver with handles, very sexy, sold the 7bsst2 to finance a speaker purchase. Now I own 2002 7bst without  handles and I think I perfer the looks of the 17" without handles. Currently I am waiting for my 2000 17" 3bst to arrive, hopefully by Friday, it's a perfect match to my 7bs.

Same for me -- I love the angular look and the handles. I have a BP25 with a 19" rack mount face-plate with the old angular look, and My BDA-1 also has the slim-line pro 19" rackmount faceplate with the beveled angles to match the Amp and pre-amp.

I love the "pro" look, and the big beefy handles on the amp look great.

I cant stand handles... they interrrupt the clean lines of gear.

I even removed them from my transporter (which didnt need them given how light they are)... so god knows why they bothered in the 1st place.

But its about to go... BDP-1 will be in the house soon.

Thanks Mark, that's a half rack and thank God for wheels as she's some heavy loaded up.
Rack will handle 500lbs.I'm close to the limit now.
I didn't want a full rack behind the screen.
The wifey keeps threatening to buy me a real nice radio :o.
A friend had a 14 B-sst(silver)and 4b-sst black)I prefer black also.
