Dave,
I'm not sure they're such natural competitors, if there is such a thing with so many different tastes and all. Tyson did a nice job comparing the V2 and Abbeys/ with 3 GR Servo subs at Mike's. I actually mix both sub approaches in my system, using the Abbeys with a pair of the V1 bottom halves (servo dual open baffle) and a third sealed GR servo sub as the primary, with pseudo-random placement. It yields smooth, quick, and deep response that integrates seamlessly.
I was also amazed at the opportunities the higher efficiency opened up and like it a lot too
For example, the Dodd buffer with those battery mono's seemed like they could really be a really trick setup for not a lot of coin.

I was talking in generalities about high sensitivity speakers in general and those with 12" drivers more specifically. I like the concentric driver for the coherency. Makes way too much sense.
I spent a lot of time with large Tannoy studio monitors and could live with them if I had to do so. Those older drivers did not have the apparent "speed" of the newer ones like the ones used in the Super V.
I'll have to try the multiple sub approach if, and I should say "When", I ever get all of my projects done. I've been so absorbed in work, church, family, remodels, illness and such that I have not even gotten my Super V's completed. Some things just suck.
