West Coast Super V's
« on: 10 Oct 2010, 08:42 pm »
Well, I bought a Super V kit a few months back and got transfered out of town with my job  before I could start the build. I finally got them started Saturday. :D

I planed to use the two sheets of 3/4 birch Plywood on hand but had some issues with finish (happy wife, happy life) and changed the kit design to include the amps and crossovers in a 3 1/2" high base. Sooooooo, 3/4" MDF made its way on to the table.  Here is the start, and hopefully this week they will be glued up before RMAF.

The new finish choice is black woofer box and coax mount baffle with "carnival red" metallic auto paint on the side panels and trim between the grill frames.

I will post picks as the build continues.

Hi Nick

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like you are well on your way. The V cab's are much simpler to build then the ob7's I built earlier this year. Please keep us up to date on your project. Could you please include some shots of your redesigned base.

Thanks
Brian

Looks great Nick!

I haven't tried it on a pair of speakers yet, but I too really like that color combination. Looking forward to seeing them finished.

I think the Black/Red combo made my old CR500R look pretty mean.

Now that is an "Arm in the Sockets" screamer. 500cc 2-stoker!!  :o

You don't have to paint it red and black to make it look mean, just twist the throttle.

Ruben,

You must be a pretty big dude or totally crazy that is a big bike.

Closest I've come to something that big was a Rotax Max Kart and when that hit the power band holly crap did it pull. :D

I once road a CR490 (older version of that bike) that had be tricked out a little. The bike was un-rideable. It went from putting along to being on the pipe and trying to flip over with little in between. You have to be a really good rider to handle a bike like that.

Oh yeah, Red and Black Super-V's... That will look great.

OK Guys I'm going to try to make some serios progress in the next couple of weeks. Dannys "Bumble V" paint inspired me at RMAF.

As for the CR500, I watched a friend flip over backwards riding one on a hill in the desert 26 years ago. He and the Honda survived with only thier pride hurt

I did the same thing in font of an audience in the Dunes on my Bombardier DS650 with stage II horsepower kit. I sold it (out of fear) and now just ride my TRX400EX. It's more fun to be able to run wide open and not fear for your life :icon_lol:

Hi all.
Did Honda ever made two strokes engines ? I think not !
37 yeras ago, I had a 50cc (Read 50cc not 500cc) Honda mini trail and I had so much fun passing the big 500cc on a steep slope covered with a thin layer of slippery mud. I had those fat knobby tires that had a lot of grip.
The color of my Honda mini trail was ? ? ? Well can't remember, it was always covered with a thick layer of mud.
Thru out my life, I have owned a Honda 50cc, Yamaha 62cc, Honda 125cc, Honda 360cc and now here in Vietnam, I ride a Honda 100cc with 165,000 miles on it, still runs like new.

I also like red.

Anymore progress Nick?

The comments on the bike are crackin me up! I'm not that big of a guy. With a little practice those beast can be tamed.

I've since ditched the facial hair and now look like a teenager again.

I second the emotion and depending on where on the West Coast you are - I'd dearly love an opportunity to hear them when they are finished  8)

Ok guys,
I've been slacking in the woodshop. I am in So Cal, San Diego to be exact. 8)

Lately my spare time has been spent trying to load over 1000 CD's into my Mach 2 server. I despertly want to finish the Super V's I'll try to make a push and glue them togther this weekend. with Pictures of course.

Thanks for the encouragement, and don't forget to send a little help to Gary if you are able.
