Hi Bo.  We lived in Portland and a small town called Sweet Home, over the pass from Sisters.  Bend area is nice, lots of good fishing I hear.

Welcome to GAS, and welcome to STL.
I trust the weather we've been having recently is at or near your comfort level (chill, windy and rainy)?

Bob
p.s. You've got a couple posts under your belt. You should be free to roam about the place without me having to approve each post.
Sorry about the delays, especially on the first one.

Thanks Bob.  It's true the cold rain does remind me of Oregon, but the sunlight has been something of a salve.  I hear spring is very nice here.

Depends on your definition of "nice". I'd call it "wet and stormy".
Which, compaired to below zero and ice, then yea....it's an improvement.

Vinyl and 2A3s will warm the hearts of a lot of us old GASsers.   :thumb:  Glad you're with us and come out to a get-together and hang with us soon.

Hey, look at that, another single ended guy :thumb: Between Mark, Willie and my place, you'll have a really nice substitute for your old Triode Society. Hopefully you'll find us worthy.

Welcome aboard :green:

Hey now, Scott, there's an integrated 45 SET amp, and a 2A3 pair of SET monoblocs amidst the forest of PP amps in the man cave here. Just not any 211s or 300Bs  :green:

And I have Batsong's new to him set of speakers, too.

Dave,

I forgot Chris (MerRev) too. He's got 2a3s and 300Bs too

As for Batsongs speakers, we'll have to arm wrestle on that one. Sure, you've got Altec 19s but I've got the KoRnziLLaS and Tannoys. One thing is for sure, he'll have plenty of variety to choose from to buy if he's looking to pick up (or build) a new pair of speakers  :thumb:

There's a 40W 805 SET over at Ryan's, and I've got a sweet KT88 push pull.  2A3 arriving soon as well.

Welcome Batsong.  Hope to see you at a get together soon.

Hello,

I am new here although I have lurked about a little bit.  I am friend of Sturgus, he has been telling me a lot about this site.

I am a audio novice and a music lover.    My 2 channel equipment is a stroll down menory lane, equipment that I have salvaged, upgraded, or in a state of refurbishment.

It consists of:   Thorens TD-160B, SME 3008 series II (improved), Shure V-15 with Jico SAS, Hafler DH 101 preamp chassis only with a Musical Concepts PasPro 1 board in it and an external PS; Hafler DH 220 with musical Concept upgraded PS and upgraded driver boards, B&W DM-6 speakers (yes, those old funny looking things).

I also have a basic 5.1 home theater blu-ray set up with a Denon 3813C AVR and B&W 68X seriesspeakers.  For a vinyl option I have a old Kenwood KD-550, Denon DL-110 cartridge, and a Jolida JD-9 phono stage.  I am in the process of modding the JD-9.

I prefer the sound of vinyl these days, even with the extra work load that comes with it.

I hope to meet some to you sometime to exchange ideas, etc.

Cheers, Bob
