Would NEO 3 PDR work in a three-way application??
« on: 24 Sep 2010, 02:51 pm »
I have a pair of JBL 4311B's and was thinking about replacing the tweeters with the NEO 3 ?
1) Would the sound characteristics of NEO fit in the current 3-way setup if I were to just swap them out?
 or
2) Would I need to seriously consider rebuilding the crossovers to use current woofers and mids along with the new NEO's?
The current crossover freqs are 1.5 and 6Khz in the 4311B's as is, how far fetched is this idea? or is it actually doable?
 Thoughts...Thanks!!

Would would need to rebuild the crossovers as replacing the tweeter is like creating an all new speaker.

The funny thing is that with the right crossover you could cross the Neo 3 as low as 1.5kHz.

Honestly, I'd start over with a new pair of speakers.

If you brought me the speakers and said make this work, then with design time, crossover parts, etc, you'd have more in them than the cost of an N3 kit (for instance) and still not have the performance.
