Maybe you mentioned this already, but what exactly are you going to do with the pipe? Does the woofer get mounted mid-way through that, so the pipe forms a cylindrical H-frame, so to speak?

That's what I was going to do with it (but probably wont) & I assume Greg is to.

Saurav, The more research I do on OB design, the more I am swayed towards your design, except with a H or U for the Bass, so if you see something similar turn up don't be surprised.

The PVC is for the Rythmik servo subs that will augment the Dipole 15s below about 50Hz.

What is the PVC pipe? Sewer pipe?

Yes, this is schedule 80(thicker wall than 40) PVC pipe.  Much stiffer than any sane box and easier than making a good box.  I will be working on getting these pieces prep'd tomorrow to fit in the drivers and servo amps.  The amp JUST fits with about .5" to spare on the sides.

Sub tubes are getting close to being playable, if not cosmetically finished.

That would change quickly if you were to power it up with him inside.  :icon_twisted:

I hope he's not in there after I sealed it up!   :o

Working on a new test baffle.  Call it version 2.0

Greg

Hi Greg, did you compare the sound and measures between horizontal and vertical Neo10s?

I had a similar thought as yours but never had the time to put it into practise (and I discarded the Neos, both 10 and 8s for lack of efficiency)

Telstar, yes I measured the results and have listened thoroughly to both versions.  The vertical Neo10 orientation for sure gives a wider sweet spot, but in my case, I am too close to a side wall with no other set-up choice, so I will most likely be using the more original, horizontal layout.  Look over on HTGuide in the drivers section to see my measurement.

Slow. Build has kind of come to a halt with work travel and holiday prep. Plan is to hit it again after New Years and get the bamboo plywood over to the cnc guy for precision cuts. Thanks for checking in....more soon.

Bamboo ply ordered from these guys today!

http://www.calibamboo.com/bambooplywood.html

3/4" carbonized vertical grain.  Got samples from several suppliers and their quality seems the highest.  Pricey, but so dense and won't require veneering OR painting, so price is not too bad once you consider those factors.

Have build speakers from the exact material before - it's awesome -lovely texture too, but requires some serious sanding time.

Got the vinyl.  Started applying tonight.

Also unboxed the Ready Acoustics panels.  Super nice looking with the metal frames cut out the way they are.
