Audio Technology drivers are used with several highend co.(Rockport,Sonos Faber) but are they really worth it???
I am using Volt 12" and would like to get a pair of 12's that will go from a "SOLID" 20hz to 700hz(I cross at 380hz to my ATC mids)
The AT's are not cheap at all(although we can build the driver to do what we want)and would be a big investment.
Has anyone tried the flex units??

Hi,

I have heard a 2 way with a 18H flexunit (6.5inch) and scanspeak berylium tweeter. The clarity was breathtaking. Surpassed my scanspeak drivers. 

The beauty lies in the simple crossover that one can design for the speaker system. I would definitely try those drivers for my next step up from scanspeak drivers. The cost is just way too high!

Per Skaaning was the founding father of Scanspeak, so no surprise his drivers are better..

Their prices aren't outrageous when compared to Accuton.

Well I ordered 4 modified 12" AT flex units(4"VC,larger magnet structure 11-12kg/unit) and they should touch close to 20hz.I now have  to decide whether to use a 12" Volt as a mid bass or 2 -8" Volts(since i have them all) in a 4way with dual ATC mids crossed at 200/800/3800.
I only ordered them becuse I can trade some new reconed JBL 2245's which I can get several of.

8'' volts should blend in better. Are they going to be ported ?

Well now I have to rethink the crossover,...12db/octave at 200/800/3800 with Solen caps and inductors or ?
I currently use a Solen built 24db-380/3800(3 way).

Well my 4 new 12" AT's are in Canada and should be home by next week.
So far,it looks like a solid 23hz(fs) and these babies will be put into a 4cubic/driver front vented box with a 12" Volt with a front firing vent in a 1cubic foot box inside the AT box.
I will start a thread on this build.
