Yay! The wicked witch is dead! I was dumbfounded when they signed Chilly to a new 4 year contract. What were they thinking? He just sucks on every level. The minute Moss was waived (if not months before) Wilf should have canned Chilly and tried to cancel the release. Oh well. Almost regardless of who they get it will be better than Childress.
Hey football fans,I propose a new rule that would help the game.In every game I ever watched lately the pass receivers,if they get one finger on them from the cornerbacks or safetys make the motion of pulling up the yellow flag, and 80 % of the time a flag comes about 5 seconds later out of the corner of my TV.And when it's a home game, about 95%!I propose a 5 or 10 yard penalty for taunting the ref when using the pulling out the yellow flag motion.Let the refs call the game, not the pre maddonas....T.O.?...anyone with me?...Mark Korda
A new rule that I'd like to see is one that's happening starting next season in the NCAA where excessive celebration in the end zone after a touchdown will nullify said touchdown. The Pro's should follow suit! Cheers,Robin
Why do we have to take fun and celebrations out of the game?I liked things better when you could celebrate after a score. Football is a very emotional sport and we shouldn't throw shackles on the players.George
Oh you mean like sommersaults in the end zones, cellphones(T.O.!), leaping over the heads of players (Dallas),,,,, do you advocate this behavior George? Where do you draw the line between end zone showboating and professional behavior? If Dallas is any example, simple yard penalties has done little to stop it. $$ penatlies mean little also. But take away some points and maybe some of the rapbop will get toned down and some professionalism on be seen on the field as well as off (but never Big Ben ). Cheers,Robin
Did anyone see the Detroit guy get called for horse collar tackle for pulling Barber down by his hair? That was insane. I thought you were allowed to tackle in this manner. Detroit always gets screwed.
Do I think some of the antics go over the line - absolutely! Are sommersaults, group celebrations, etc...too much? Not for me.Do I want to see props (other than the football) used in celebrations? Nope.Does any of this really detract from my enjoyment of the game? Not really. However, I think the solution isn't to ban celebrations and over-penalize players...instead let the players police themselves. If there are excessive celebrations, that can be addressed on the field during the course of the game. Seems like we have taken some of the fun out of the game to simply stop a few idiots from showing the world how much of an idiot they truly are.George
Well George, in case you weren't aware, that is the new rule for 2011 collage football. And it wouldn't surprise me to see the NFL follow suit, depending on how well it works, or doesn't work out in the NCAA. The problem with them "idiots" is both the camera and the public love that stuff which in turn only perpetuates the situation and motivates the "idiots" to formulate the next big end zone show. Let's face it, the T.O. cellphone was what started all the new rules. So it's really not just the playing performers that are idiots, it's both the broadcasting and the viewing audience too. Cheers,Robin ps,,, you don't see that BS in the MLB everytime a homer run is hit. Good example of sports professionalism IMHO.
I'm aginst any rule that would take points off the board for a subjective ref call. I hate the TO style celebrations but I would rather see a fine or penalty. Taking points off the board is way too stiff. I wonder what will happen when they bust Brett for texting pictures of his pecker to that chick. Did anyone see the Detroit guy get called for horse collar tackle for pulling Barber down by his hair? That was insane. I thought you were allowed to tackle in this manner. Detroit always gets screwed.
The long hair should be considered part of the Uniform and grasping a player by the hair should be fair game.otherwise the NFL should have grooming standards to regulate hair length to keep long haired players from gaining a unfair advantage
