I personally like the AFC's Chances in the Big Game!   :D

Go Steelers!

Ken

I will be rooting for the Steelers since my team (NY Giants) didn't make it.

Man, it was sure tough to root for the Fudgepackers, but tonite I had no choice!  I loathe GB & Chicago almost equally, but I despise the Giants even more!  So for one week at least, thanks Fudgies! :thumb:  Of course, they could really so some damage in the NFC, and I don't think anyone is going to be real eager to face them.  If their offense is clicking they could make a serious run.  NO seems to be playing reasonably well, today's loss not withstanding.  I haven't seen Atlanta play enough to have an opinion on just how good they really are yet.  Still, they're in the driver's seat right now.

The AFC will be interesting, too.  NE is playing lights-out at the moment.  I think they're clearly the best team by a wide margin.  But it only takes one off night.  The Ravens are looking pretty good.  Hard to say about the Steelers- if Polamalu is 100% they're a tough team.  If he's not they'll be one-and-done IMO.  And even though the Colts have had a pretty rough year they're still dangerous.

While the Colts aren't blowing teams out as in years past they are winning the close ones. Hopefully this is stoking a fighting attitude. They won the last 3 games when it was win or go home. GO COLTS!

I am totally surprised that the Giants did not make the playoffs and in fact I am surprised, in general, at the outcome of the NFC East Division.  At the beginning of the year I think most football fans believed the East was the best division in all of Football.  Many expected the Cowboys, followed by the Giants to be in the playoffs.  Hardly anyone predicted the Eagles would win the division, especially after traded McNabb.

Anyway, George, I am happy to learn you will be pulling for the Steelers during the playoffs.  Somehow, I think we will get to face the Ravens again.  Two teams that play as if they are in the playoffs every time they face each other!  Oh Joy!

I'll remember this comment for later reference if needed after their season is over.  :eyebrows:

Wade Phillips is available,,,

Just for you Robin....a quote from John Mara (co-owner of the Giants)

"...In this society, everybody wants to fire the coach all the time. The Yankees get knocked off in the playoffs, everybody wants to fire the manager."

"Well, we don't do that here. He's going to be our coach. Because I believe in the guy, I believe in stability, you can't build anything if you are constantly making changes and firing people. That is not our culture and it is just not what we believe in. We know this guy is a good coach and we want him to lead us into next season."

This quote is exactly why the Giants have had more success than the Cowgirls over the last decade plus.

A great quote and I completely agree.   :thumb:  Those who disagree with a statement like that don't understand the meaning of a TEAM.

I think the Steelers vs. Eagles would make for an entertaining Super Bowl.

Yes, good comment from the Giants' owner and glad to see them come out publicly to say it in the absolute toughest of markets.

A read of Tony Dungy's first book, "Quiet Strength" gives you some insight into what it really takes for the long haul.  The Colts' (post Bob Irsay) patience has paid off with consistently good teams over that period, after some very bad to mediocre ones before (I was an original season ticket holder when they came to Indy - ugh).  Starting with a great QB of course didn't hurt, but keeping him there and protecting him to stay healthy was key too.  Jim Caldwell was groomed in the same system and team work ethic and patient approach, so hopefully more good years are still ahead.  This year with so many going to IR, they've been able to plug unknown players into the same system and still manage to win the AFC South division, with 4 of their 6 losses by just 2 or 3 points.  A month or so ago not many would have believed it.

I doubt that beating Jacksonville and Tennessee by just a few to end the season bodes well for what's to come in the playoffs, but it is great to see them at least make the show.  Lots of very good teams there - obviously the Pats are looking invincible, but the Falcons and Steelers both can beat pretty much anybody too.  It's going to be fun to watch!

I've been hoping for this for years now, they come so close, but one or both always fall out.  Think how many chances there have been for this in the past few years.  My two teams in the Bowl together, I'd just have to root for good plays.

Well Ken, I'm not surprised in the least with the colossal meltdown by the g-babies. Let's face it, when you have a quarterback like Eli Manning who led the whole leaque in interceptions this season, that road to Dallas starts to develop lots of potholes.

But as we head into post season, I can't think of anyone I'd rather have sitting next to me on the sidelines than our very own g-baby fan Zybar. Have a reserved seat George, your g-baby crawling days to Dallas are finally over.  :thumb:

Well George, to be honestly fair, I think it would have been a huge mistake to have let go Tom Coughlin in the 1st place just cuz of his team's late season meltdown(all tho I was hopin'  :eyebrows: ). Let's face it, Coughlin's did more for his team just this season than Wade Philips ever did for the Dallas Cowboys so even if he doesn't get re-signed for another contract next year, Tom Coughlin has definitely earned the right to work thru the end of this one!  :thumb:

But this doesn't in any way, shape or form diminish my dislike for both him and his g-babies.  :green:

OK, I've gotten over (somewhat) the Giants failure to make the playoffs.  This season has highlighted one thing for me, that is EVERY game counts.  I can look back at the Tennessee or second Dallas game and say that is where it was lost.  We like to look at the obvious miss opportunities with the Eagles and the Packers but reversing one of those other games would have done it too.

For this weekend's Wild Card Games I'll take the Chiefs over the Ravens, yes I'm drinking the koolaid a bit here; the Jets over the Colts, I could go either way on this one; the Saints over the Seahawks, easy choice it would seem; and finally the Packers over the Eagles, mostly because I feel the Packers are on the upswing and the Eagles seem to have peaked a couple weeks ago.  That's three road teams to win.  What do you guys think?

Colts over Jets (Manning at home in the playoffs)
Saints over the Seahawks (last night was a horrible excuse for a game with the winner in the playoffs)
Ravens over Chiefs
Packers over Eagles

Works for me :thumb:.  Ole Rex Ryan is gonna feel pretty shell shocked if his team goes out in the first round.  I'll have to see it to believe it and hope I do.

I don't much care for the Jets or the Colts.  I feel the Jets are the better team this season but I expect Indy to prevail- Manning at home will probably be too much for NY to deal with.  And they seem to be staggering a little...maybe Ryan is worn out from late nights moonlighting as the cameraman for fetish vids!  The Saint will run over the Seahawks- this one will be over with by the middle of the 2nd quarter IMO.  The Ravens will probably beat KC.  The GB/Philly game is tough to pick.  If GB gets hot it could get ugly fast.  But the Eagles are also dangerous.  I will tentatively pick but the Eagles but it could easily go either way.

I like 3 out of your 4 picks Ken but I see a possible NY Jets upset here. Manning brother meltdowns have been prevalent all season, regardless of where the games have been at. It could happen again. That game and the Green Bay/Eagle game will be my favorites to watch for next week. But I'll be rooting for no one specifically, just hoping that the Saturday & Sunday doubleheaders are all close and highly entertaining to watch.  :hyper:

Good luck to everyone's favorite teams.  :thumb:

The next month will be interesting to see where some coaches decide to go.  Wonder if Cowher and Gruden will return the field.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gruden didn't go to S.F.  It wouldn't take much to win that division, obviously.
