There are an awful lot of 24/48 and 24/96 audience recordings on Archive.org. I highly recommend checking out some of the ones from Steve Kimock, Ratdog and Phil Lesh and friends, just to name a few.

You must be up-sampling somewhere. I'm a SKY subscriber and their bitrates vary between 32-256 Kbps lossy. A 24/96 lossless stream would translate to 2.3 Mbps.

That's 96k bps, not sample rate (96khz).  You are confusing terminology.  You are listening to very lossy streams, as most internet radio, etc. are.
