Get rid of the WAF, keep the speakers.

Bass modules reduce WAF tremendously. Even if a 2 way bookshelf on a stand occupies the same space as a floorstander, WAF is still higher for the 2 way bookshelf.

We've been married 41 years, that's not an option!  :D

Thanks for the help, guys.

One thing I've thought about is how to hook up a 2-way monitor to a separate bass module and keep the impedance the same?  I'm guessing I'd have to change the 2-way crossover?  These are not my speakers.  It's a pic of what I'm talking about building.

That looks like a great project!!!
This may or may not be related but since I have gone to a 3-way speaker with a 12" woofer the bass is just so nice and deep, not boomy but nice deep consistent bass...I still use my 10" Polk sub but I think the bass module is a good idea once you work out the details of the build. I know if I ever upgrade my sub it will be at least 12"-15" inches, I've used my current setup with some JBL- L20T's bookshelf type monitors and a sub and it sounds nice but not as deep and detailed as having the 12" woofer in the mix. Good luck with the project!!
