I suggest you read carefully the description and product spec on the Icon2 website.
Icon2 = Icon uDAC2 + Icon Amp + Preamp
It is exactly what I stated above.
You are entitle to your opinion, but it is impolite to criticize a manufacturer's product on the circle without even try it first.
We have been overwhelm so I have been inactive on this site for quite some time. We have been trying hard to keep up with demand of our products.
I BUY YOUR PRODUCTS. I OWN AN ICON AND THE HUNDRED DOLLAR SPEAKER WIRE BOX (with it's 'you were dumb enough to buy our gimped amp, now we can charge whatever we like to fix our problem pricing') AND AN HDP.
The RJ45 connectors on the Icon and Icon-2 are the most hare-brained, anti-consumer design decision I have seen on a piece of hi-fi gear in 30 years.
And you gimped these products....why? Because you wanted to put filters in the amps for when they were used with your speakers, that's why. So instead of doing it right in the speakers and charging a fair price you push those expenses along to people buying the amp. And then you discontinue the RJ45 coupler box (it is nowhere on your webpage) and expect people to buy an Icon-2?
I like your products
and I buy them but this 'we won't use standard speaker outputs on our amp so we can fix a problem in our speakers, passing the hassle and expense along to anyone who buys the amp' is just nuts.
And if you don't like me saying so, tough luck. SOMEONE NEEDS TO.
If these were mediocre products it wouldn't be so frustrating. But these are very nice products with a real problem for anyone who wants more than 2 meter speaker wires.
