Bugle opamp orientation...
« on: 29 Jul 2010, 02:36 pm »
Could anyone confirm the correct way to install replacement opamps in the Bugle? I would like to try some OPA637s in an adaptor and wondered if the whole structure should be oriented in the same way as the originals (with the half moon cut-outs facing the same way)? Is it right to assume that there is only one way to do this?

Cheers!

Well, I just chucked them in anyway and sided with logic. Do they take time to 'break in'?

They seem mildly louder...

There is only one way that the IC's can be oriented on the circuit board.
The notch on the IC must be facing the output side of the board. This is the same side that the switch on the bugle is located.

Yes, thanks jcg - worth mentioning. My worry was that the replacements I bought (2x OPA637BP on an adapter) might have some wiring I didn't expect. As it was, the notch on the adapter corresponded to logic and all is fine. I'm using them in U2 and U3 positions. Sound fine so far!

Now I'm thinking 12V SLA batteries, a Piccolo and maybe another Bugle for my other deck...
