Question : Cornet with higher current transformer?
« on: 22 Feb 2004, 02:54 am »
Hello, All

I am going to make my own Cornet phone (no octal). Since my country is for 220V AC, I have 370BX in mind. However, searching the hammond page, I found bigger one. Is it meaningful or useful to use transformers with bigger currents to enhance the power supply part? Since I have to redesign the case holes, I don't mind about the transsi sizes. What I am questionning is the bigger current gurantees stable and better performance of the cornet phono.

Regards,

Belows are the other spec. of 370 transsies.

Yes, you can use bigger transformers.  In fact, oversizing a tranny is generally a good thing to do.  You just pay more.

In the case of the Cornet, you'll have to adjust the values of R2 and R21 to compensate for voltage drop.

jh :)
