I know the USD has been in decline, but not to the point where a wiener on a bun can sell for $69!

The only thought that comes into my head as I viewed this is Marie Antoinette saying

I saw a story about it on my local news the other night.  I think they probably did it for shock value and news coverage more than anything else.  I'm sure they could have price it cheap - like $30 :green:

What do they charge at Yankee Stadium without the pretzel bun and the truffle oil?

By the way, Wolfy, I could only get it to play a short way into the description.

Per this - a Nathan's dog is $6.75 -  http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2009/04/first-look-at-the-new-yankees-stadium-food-nyc-bronx-concession-stands.html

That means you can get ten of them

Yep, a great dog at Hot Dougs. On a couple days a week they offer french fries cooked in duck fat.

If you want a great Hot Dog in L.A., check out Vicious Dogs on Lankershim, in North Hollywood. My all time fav is the Sweet and Spicy Kielbasa. http://www.viciousdogsnoho.com/

I get a polish dog in a bun and a 16oz coke for $1.50 at Costco. It tastes pretty darn good.

Was told the chicken wrap and coke for $2.50 was very good. Never had one. Maybe I will next time I'm at Costco.

Here in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, there is a place called Easterbrooks.

Started in the 20's, it serves footlongs with lots of different toppings.  My personal fav is the Texarkana - chili and grated old cheddar!

My girls love to go, as they have great ice cream.

I think a plain footlong is around $4.

Comparing hot dogs is like comparing tube vs SS. Everybody has their favorite.

I like the dogs at Tony Packo's. Skyline Chili has really good coneys, and my favorite is the Hot Dog Diner. http://www.hotdogdiner.com/

Then there is the Polish Boy. Some would say it isn't a hot dog, but it's roughly the same thing, and they sure are good. Wear some old clothes or get a bib before you eat one though.

I like hot dogs from other areas of the country too, but a dog from the Hot Dog Diner or a Polish Boy from Freddie's Rib House spells home. :)

+++1 on Hot Doug's in Chicago.  But it's so good that you have to wait a long time most times to get one.  Well worth it though.

If you don't have time for that go to Superdawg on Milwaukee and Devon in Chicago.   They are supreme.

Hey, you stole my picks!!!  Okay, I have one more to add, The Weiner's Circle in Lincoln Park.  Char cheddar dogs and cheddar fries at the Weiner's circle is my favorite.  Heart attack on a plate but worth it!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wieners_Circle

There is a Superdawg in Midway airport.  Not exactly the same menu as the one on Milwaukee but still good.  Great Chicago style dogs.

Honorable mention, Jim's Original Polish, on Roosevelt off of I 90/94.  Lock your car doors and enjoy the best Polish Sausage in town (not exactly a hot dog but close enough for this thread).  There used to be a sign that said "Famous Jewtown Polish" in the window of the old shop because that was the name of Maxwell Street back in the old days.  The name was not meant to be derogatory, it was a name like "Chinatown" but Maxwell St. no longer exists (at least not as an outdoor market as it did when I was a kid) and the nickname of the sandwitch has been rightfully retired.

http://www.jimsoriginal.com/jimsoriginal/Our_Story.html

There are lots of great hotdog places in Chicago area, and several that have faded into history.  Tasty Hasty dog on Milwaukee was one of my favorites but is no longer around.

We still have Gene and Judes in River Grove for old-school dogs and fresh cut fries (and Tamales!),  Bobo's on Irving and Plainfield on the NW side still has great dogs (and awesome cheesy beefs) and Plush Pup on Cumberland, near O'Hare has great dogs and my favorite Italian beefs and char dogs!

Whatever you do, don't ever order a hotdog with ketchup!  Those are fightin' words in this town.

I think I just figured out why we have so man fat people in this town.  Great dogs!

Cheers,

J

We need another thread about the best Italian beef places on the planet.  I think they are all in the Chicago area!  Cheesy beef/Italian sausage combo, juicy with sweet and hot peppers.  Mmmmmmm!

How did Yankee Stadium come into the discussion?

This silly hot dog is from Serendipity (the home of the $1000 sundae - http://www.boingboing.net/2006/02/14/worlds-most-expensiv.html).

Compared to the $1000 sundae, the hot dog is a bargain!   :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
