The VMPS LARGER SUB Summertime Close Out Special and ReportOver the last year Brian has posted regarding the changes to the Woofer/Drivers in the
LARGER Subwoofer.
Due to raw material (Woven Carbon Fiber) availability, he has had to move on to another 12" Megawoofer. Of course Brian didn't just find a replacement, he has a better 12" and also a matching 15" driver.
Not too long ago B, posted
"The WCF 12" cones are no more, victim of the worldwide carbon fiber shortage. We and the Misco people engineered a new mica filled 12" polycone and a motor with a flat spider with 3mm additional Xmax and 4Hz lower Fs."
This 12" driver also has a 80 oz magnet.
This of course means that the New MegaWoofer makes
you the beneficiary of that shortage.

Our old 15" "Megawoofer" of the past six years has been a 75oz magnet polycone. The new Eminence-sourced Kevlar reinforced paper cone driver with the 100 oz motor and 20Hz Fs. The cone is extremely stiff It has better Xmax (15mm) than the old poly 15" "Mega".

Both of these MegaWoofer drivers are the "
little brothers" to the
ULTRA-MegaWoofers used in the
VLA and
VSS at $225 for the 12" and $350 for the 15". These two UltraMW woofers are also available as upgrades but come as the "stock" drivers
only in the
VLA and the
VSS subs.
The bad news is that these drivers are also more expensive and the price of the upgrade will need to be adjusted upward to reflect this increase. Although trying to keep this down, we are looking at having to charge at least
$200 for the new
MegaWoofer upgrade instead of the current
$140.
So before we increase the price we wanted to allow anyone thinking of going
LARGER to do so now.
