I must say, until now- the only loudspeakers I have seen commercially available that employ accutron drivers tend to cost well north of $12K a pair to start.  This is a shock to the system.  Very nice cabinets!

Thanks Bill, it's the Scan Speak Air Circ 6600 tweeter, and the woofers are the Accuton C95s.

The cabinets feature a lacquer finish and is very smooth to the touch.

I was also noticing the compliments you have gotten for the sound.  I will reveal that I have not always gone crazy for accutron (carbon crystal)  tweeters.  I auditioned some otherworldly expensive Avalon speakers, and at the time I remember preferring the ceramic tweeters.  That was a few years back though.  I have not listened to any accutron mid or woofer equipped speakers.  Kudos for the above mentioned melodia ra7.2--those are my favorite design of your lineup. They exude elegance. And just as well---the price does not want to make me go into anaphalactic shock.

IMO, I think part of the problem with some of the designs out there using Accuton, which don't sound quite right, is the crossover implementation (the heart and soul of a loudspeaker), and matching up an appropriate tweeter so the Accuton can work in its most effective passband.

Previous speakers I have heard with Accuton mids and/or woofers are what took me away from speakers utilizing them. In those designs there was a sterility and dryness that had no evolvement and was quite fatiguing after only a short time of listening. When Jed mentioned building the RA7.2 for our showroom using an Accuton mid, I will admit I had my doubts but must say that the integration of these drivers and smoothness in the presentation has proven to be well beyond my expectations.

 In other designs using Accuton midranges, they simply did nothing for me. I did not believe it was the drivers rather the design and voicing of the crossover. (Same thing goes for MANY design I have heard in the past using Focal tweeters). Bottom line......Jed hit the nail on the head with this one

That was my experience exactly!  Side by side, the ceramic models were all liquid smooth and musical by compare.  I just didn't get the rave over the $2,500 a pair "be all and end all"  "diamond" tweeters.   Nor could I fathom the price.  Just on the basis of carbon fiber drivers, proac charges $40K a pair for the carbon pro 8. (That's the lamest and most uninspired high end model name in the history of audio.) IMO,  between Response Audio, Salk  and VMPS proof exists that no-compromise sound doesn't need to cost as much as an SUV.

I noted on your website about using Supra wire.  I've never tried their cables but have used their balanced connectors and cable trousers (for dual RCAs) for many years in making cables.  I ordered from Jenving at a time when they did not have a US distributor.

By the way, where are you located?  I noticed you have available auditions at Endicott, NY.  It is that near where you are located?  Just curious.

I'm just outside Rochester, NY.  I have to update my contact page on my website.  Currently, I have the speaker that Bill (Response Audio) pictured in his post on display in his Endicott, NY showroom.

As for the cable hook-up wire in the speakers, we can use whatever one wants for that.  I'm a custom builder so the sky is the limit to meet the clients' needs.
