A friend on here gave me a great deal on a Grant Fidelity B-283 Tube Buffer...it uses different type tubes then the GF Tube DAC-09 I use so I figured a different type tube would be a different type sound. So I have it connected to the solid state outputs of the DAC and then to my TWO.2, of course at first I had to try it on the Tube pre-outs but it seemed a bit overly tubey. This brings a different fuller tube sound..plenty of low end and that nice tube tom-tom sound I live for. Anyway its hot...96 here in Allentown so I'm going tubin!!!! :thumb: :thumb:

Yeah, I've heard many people say that using two tube components in the same chain can be overly soft, squishy, or tubey. But then again, there are many people who use many tube-based components in the same system and can't get enough of it. Personally, I find the combo of a tube pre and a solid-state amp to be beautiful, enchanting - I will at some point revisit tubes by getting a good tube pre. Enjoy the FrankenDACbuffer...

For me it's the tubes that make the sound more or less tubey. Maker and vintage come into play here, which is where the fun begins! Tube rolling, is there anything better to do on those hot summer days? :thumb:
