Nirvana havent been around in 15 yrs + and there have been a crap load of great bands since them. Tame Impala may not be the next big thing but their new CD Innerspeaker is very good.

Here's their first single: "Solitude is Bliss'. I think their studio work better personifies their sound.

Uhm,  Nothing new under the sun...
I already listen worse songs from this Coke generation. No piano or any keyboard, bad sign.
I wonder why every new band after punk rock play the same agressive music styles, Heavy Metal or Hard Core??

Well this song didn't totally turn me off like that 1st link but I'm still not onboard with their sound. I doubt I'd sample a 3rd myself.

At least they (mostly) looked like a rock band.  I loved the staging for their show.  If only their singer would stop playing with his hair...

I just listened to about 6 or 7 of their videos on Youtube and imo, they are nothing special.  Their sound is very repetitive and their lyrics don't speak to me.  I've seen dozens of bands like this in the past 5 years.

The clip did nothing for me either.  However, the album "Innerspeaker" I like muchly.  Fine use of the studio to get a vintage '60's/'70's vibe with some modern touches.  If you're inclined to write them off based on this video (I can understand why), check out the album before you do so.  Their chops may not be otherworldly, but they achieve an interesting studio sound (as was mentioned earlier).

I listened to the YT video and a few others. I didn't hear anything special.

Nirvana had a generational voice and sound. Tame Impala doesn't seem to embody anything as unique or genre establishing as Nirvana. They are a decent band. Sort of have a big wall of guitar sound like The Stone Roses but with much less intensity.

They have some press in the media, which is positive. Nothing close to being the Next Big Thing, though. And their youtube hits don't seem to indicate they are gaining momentum. They do have a niche base.

None of what is written or said should have any impact on your own enjoyment of the Band. Thanks for putting it out there.

cheers, ed

This second music ''Solitude is bliss'' is better than the first one IMO, however it is teenagers music too or for young people.  I sorry this video preaches free violence, even against animals.
Some of these contemporary rock bands videos clips are better made than the music they play.

As a over 50 guy I feel lack of some serius Jazzrock bands as this below (no fancy video though):

I have consulted the Big Book Of Facts, and on page 14,278 Section 14, Paragraph 4 it states:

"Tame Impala is not the next big rock band since Nirvana."

While we're at it, what was so great about Nirvana?  They have a few good songs, but other than that, I really can't see the appeal.

So I guess you could say you have not reached nirvana?  *groan*  No but seriously, look at these fine selling points:

1. Swimming babies
2. Goth cheerleaders
3. Flannel
4. Disaffected teenagers
5. Shoe gazing
6. Very long guitar straps
7. Drug addiction & suicide

That's a whole lot of appeal there if you ask me.  What else can we do to have you drive home with this fine Nirvana CD download today?
