Nice Kimber Kables - very sharp looking but at roughly $1200 / meter they are too rich for me.  Hope they sound as good as they look.
 
How did you decide on them without yet hearing your system and deciding what you needed a little more of or a little less?  Room factors are a key part of why you might consider tailoring sound with kables - just nips and tucks, mind you, so how do you make up your mind when there are so many cable out there?  Just curious.

Ventured up to 'The City' (i.e. San Francisco) to a Mastering Studio to pick up a Manley Skipjack from Craigslist:



I also got a quick listen on the mastering suite seen it the intro page of his site (a pair of Focal Grande Utopia EMs powered by VTL Siegfrieds ). Just a quick listen as my meter was only for 20 minutes.

Great price and I can finally do some AB listening tests.

Amazing clarity and brilliance.

I first changed one loudspeaker, then listened for a while to a monofied recording, the difference was stunning... A curtain was removed. I actually tested this by hanging a curtain over the new tweeter, and then it sounded the same...

Nice closeup shots of that install; however, I noticed you are not using any kind of seal, gasket between your drivers and your cabinet.  Would it not help to improve some micro vibrations between the driver and cabinet if you used some type of thin silicon, rubber seal / gasket?  Just curious, since it appears you've gone to such great effort to build those speakers.

There actually is something between the unit and the cabinet, a thin transparent layer of some sort of silicon like stuff. It actually was not neccessary to put it in, since the seal between the units and the cabinet is basically air tight anyway.
As for vibrations, the cabinet is made of oak, I have tested for vibrations using a sheet of tin foil on top of the cabinets at a VERY unpleasant volume, and not a single ringing from the foil whatsoever. These babies weigh over 180 pounds each...

Well, if you have used a silicon that should help - if you don't detect / hear any vibrations then that's good.
 
An interesting choice to go with solid wood over MDF/HDF.  My understanding is that they don't use solid wood for building speakers since it is difficult to impossible to match the resonances / natural sound characteristics between two pieces of wood - given the natural variations in density etc.  An analogy would be that two violins, no matter how identically built, will never sound exactly the same.  So it would follow that two speakers made of natural wood would also be virtually impossible to match. 
 
How were you able to overcome the difference in the sound characteristics of the enclosures.

It's something silicon like. I don't remember the name of it. I actually put it in after about 6 months, and did not notice or measure any difference.

It's not just wood, it is 1.2 inch / 3 cm solid oak, one of the "deadest" woods. The inside is lined with 0.1 inch / 2.5 mm lead, open cavities are filled with silver sand which was vibrated to an almost solid mass. Any resonance is killed effectively...
I have measured both intensively, in a measuring chamber. There is a difference between them, but this difference is even smaller than the difference present in factory produced loudspeakers.

Before we moved, I had "smaller" machine equipment that I could house in our unfinished basement. You can actually see my first lathe to the right of my Monarch.   

Our basement in our current home is finished and with the Monarch lathe weighing in at at well over one ton dictates that I construct a small room in the garage for the interim period. We are looking at moving in a few years and then I can have a dedicated studio.

I enjoy robotics and Steampunk Art and have been absent from these pursuits for much too long. I also consider myself most fortunate to acquire equipment such as my Monarch for both functionality and aesthetics. It is extremely humbling when you think of what the history of my Monarch is as it was "born" when the world was at war.

Somehow I find myself "unworthy."
