Rick :  This year I went from using a combo of things to cabling my entire system with one product and it has been really satisfying. Don't know if that would hold true generally ( I'm sure some will disagree with this approach ) but that's how it worked out for me FWIW. Of course all of this is moot because the whole cable thing is irrelevant anyway...

D.D.

D.D.  I have always believed that there were synergies in using the same product in a system, but anymore, I'm not sure what to believe. I think I am becoming a skeptic in my old age. The quest to find the perfect blend of copper, silver, and snake oil, can be a challenging one.

There appear to be two going theories on using consistent loom (brand / models) in your system:

1) Loom (cables) are designed by the engineer by model as a family to complement eachother with the objective of an overall neutral or specific sound in mind.  The engineer designs the loom to work togther from source to speaker.  Hence, if you like the sound of the loom, using it across your system will give the best results in terms of you getting to the objective of the engineer.

2) No cable is 100% neutral and neither is any component.  No cable / component is 100% the same in characteristic sound.  Therefore, using the same loom throughout may result in defficiencies in the cables being built on and exaggerated.  This will mean too much of a bad thing or too much of a good thing - which is bad, as well.  Therefore, using different cables will tend to offset the inherent defficiencies in the brands/models resulting in a better state with an overall average.

I see some sense in both theories but don't support one over the other.

Congrats larevoj,

SF are truly beutiful looking and performing speakers.  I've yet to hear them on a Bryston rig and am sure they would be delightful.  I've considered the Liuto line from them myself but have yet to audition.

Enjoy! :drums:

Hey D.D.,
I'm still auditioning.  I'm hoping to have some time to do some careful/extensive listening this weekend.  I promise to report back!

Headshrinker :  Are these the ones you've settled on or are you still checking out different options?

Rick,
I'm trying to remember.  Aren't you using HT Pro Reference 9 speaker wire and Magic Link II IC's?

Headshrinker2

I'm anxious to hear your impressions. I've been running Harmonic Tech ic's, and speaker cables in my system. My new gear has created a need for an additional set of ic's, and I have been debating whether to stay 100% Harmonic Tech, or throw something else in to the mix.

headshrinker2,

Yes, that is what I am using. I have been happy with them, but since I moved to the Bryston gear, they seem to be a little "brighter". It could be my imagination though. I don't have any other ic's to compare them with, so I was interested in hearing your comments.

Now that is great packaging.....wooden crates, in cardboard boxes. Be sure to post some pics of the speakers when you have everything set up.
