It's value. This is the first sub $2000 tube integrated I've encountered that manages to capture great tone without straying too far from the linear yardstick. Hand-wound transformers, lots of quality control testing prior to any piece being shipped out, and great sound to boot....  At $980, I am still bewildered as to why the i34 hasn't gained at least a small niche of fans.

My toy aka Melody PM845. :)

They'll be replaced by a pair of flagship MN845 soon. :D

Scott 222C.  I like this as a piece of audio Americana. It was recently refurbed by Craig at NOS Valves.  All Telefunken, with the exception of a GE copper plate 5AR4.  As fine an amplifier as has ever sat in my audio rack, and in some ways better.

And of course, this is what we all like about our tube amplifiers!

The Scott is an outstanding piece!
Is it fully functional, or used as a power amp?

It is a fully functional, integrated amplifier. Since the rebuild, no need for bass or treble adjustments and no need for using the subwoofer, other than for organ music.

Hey!

Zero, hope no snow got inside the amp from underneath and you wipe it dry completely... off course unless you want the amp to develop patina inside and out.  :?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Hey Buddy,

 Yep, I gave the amp the complete cleaning treatment after her photo session.  If you ask me, it liked it... a bit too much!

At this time of year I like the way they help to heat up my house.

  • That's not an issue, that's a problem.

Because my homebrew Williamsons (Keroes circuitry) seemingly last forever (built in 1959-1960).  Great sound and will probably last longer than I will.

I love my McIntosh MC-60 amps.  There is something about it that I truly like.
