the v1 tubes are in front and of course the v2 in the rears. never switch their positions.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
Any suggestions for tubes and how good should the v1 tubes be?
Nos tubes or current production?

I have dozens of 6DJ8s to try in my RM-9 Mk I.  While the NOS tubes do sound great the quietest tubes are my RAMs from Roger.

A note of caution, the tube sockets in this amp aren't made for constant tube rolling.  They are merely soldered onto the board underneath.  Pulling tubes out will eventually break the solder joint and you'll not be happy then!  Find what sounds good quickly and stick with them.  Roll to your heart's desire elsewhere in your system.

correct on the tube rolling. i had to have my old rm9mk2 sockets re-soldered.V1 should be the quietest you can get. V2 are not that critical but do get them from roger as he knows best. for power tubes i would suggest NOS Siemens EL34's. just the most musical sounding. i had a set in mine for 11 yrs! i got them from roger. i now have the Nos Siemens EL34 tubes in my rm9se.
