Well, about that full-blown Cherry..... I got home the other night and there was an offer for a ARC preaamp that I'm selling, so without thinking, I sent Tommy the bread for a full-blown Cherry Plus!! D'oh!

I figured, why fight destiny. Actually, I don't even think I told Tommy this, but the first DAC I heard was at my friend Alvester Garnett's house while he was reviewing it for StereoTimes.com. He had the Cherry Plus that week. We were all amazed at the sound. I know me, and I know that I'd be sending the Cherry back to be upgraded anyway, so I'm actually SAVING money by not having to ship it back. Makes sense, right? That's how I'll explain it to my wife, anyway.

It feels good to buy the last amp I'll ever need (until fusion reactor mono blocks are invented, that is)

By the way, the buyer backed out of the ARC deal, so if you're looking for an Audio Research SP11, I'll make you a good deal. I need the money!

Actually, I already have an SP-11 MK2. I picked up the 2nd locally at a price I couldn't refuse. I was going to use it in a downstairs system, but decided I coud use the money.

So you'll be able to feed the Cherry w/ a balanced signal - cool - they like that.

I hear a bunch of little teasers about reviews, seemingly all positive.

Not that any single person's review is either the end of the world or a perpetual motion machine but it'd still be some vindication for folks like me who were smitten with the DAC amps long ago, only to see them get better and better over time.

I'm holding off much comment on my new Cherry Plus until I get a handle on my new EE dac (should arrive today!) but if the sound I'm getting w/ a stock Touch is any indication, I'm in for a treat.

Yes, they do like a balanced signal but also sound very good with a good single ended amp and good adapters. I was running the 4800A with the single ended Purity One with great results...so..... if you don't have a balanced preamp, don't let that stop your from considering one of the DAC amps.

Note that this amp is nearly identical to a Cherry jr internally, and it also has upgraded output filters (same ones as in the Cherry PLUS)! It was used as a demo for a commercial customer and is in perfect shape.
