Are we headed for a Celtics/Lakers rematch?
« on: 20 May 2010, 04:04 am »
So far, 4 games have been played and both L.A. & Boston are sitting at 2-0.  Barring a miracle from one of their opponents it looks like the Lakers and Celtics will be playing for the championship again.  Last time the talking heads considered L.A. the prohibitive favorite, and we remember how that turned out.  But this Lakers team is much improved, and Kobe has a lot of help.  Of course, the Celtics have added some good talent, too.

How you you guys think it's gonna go?

I think it will boil down to who's healthier.

For me it all boils down to toughness.  Will the Lakers be tough enough this time around?  That's the question, additions like Artest and an emerging Bynum and Brown may indicate that they are.  The key to the series and the Lakers being contenders in general is the play of Gasol.  Garnett and Perkins are just waiting to get a piece of Gasol, luckily he has a little help in Bynum.  But on paper this looks to try to capture some of the elements of the past rivalry.  We see how good a job the NBA does of marketing this.

I think the great thing about the C's is that they are proving that even in the NBA a team will beat a star.  I think another banner for Boston is in the works.

GO CELTICS!!!

Unlike the Cav's, the Lakers have a lot more than just Kobe.  If they play good team ball they can hang with anyone.  If they do so and Bryant gets hot- watch out!

It seems it the RondoShow every night.  It's rather sad to see the Magic get spanked this bad.  If their coach could throw in the towel I am 100% sure he would.

Laker's/Celtics should be intense.  Fisher needs to bring his old school game and put Rondo on his ass and get under his skin early and often or else.

If there was justice in the David Stern League, Fisher would foul out half way through the first quarter.

Can't argue with that. The NBA is almost exclusively thugs. Refs call fouls willy-nilly. Walking and palming the ball are mostly ignored, and pushing shoving, elbowing go on endlessly. I liked basketball when it was more graceful and explosive. I just can't get interested in the brutality and random ref work that dominates Stern's circus today.

So the Lakers draw first blood!  I'm not surprised they beat the Celtics in L.A.  We'll see what happens back in Boston.  I wonder if this one will go 7?

Yes, they did!  :thumb:  Phil Jackson is 47-0 in series where his team has a 1-0 lead.

I was at the game tonight. It brought back warm memories of an old saying here in Southern California that has been handed down from generation to generation. It goes a little something like this:

Boston Sucks!!!

Go Lakers,
Jerry

Where was Rondo? IMO he didn't handle the ball enough, drive to the hoop and dish or finish strong.

We got ourselves a series, folks :thumb:

I never would've thought that without significant offensive input from Pierce and Garnett that the Celtics could win one...but, Rondo and Allen were merciless.

Man that Rondo is really turning into a superstar now :hyper: Exciting stuff.
