This makes ten Championships for the Lakers in the past 30 years.

No professional sports team has won this many championships in the past 30 years.

Not the Yankees. Not the Sox. Not the Pats, or 49'ers. Not Pittsburgh.

No Hockey team, no Soccer team.

Only the Lakers.

Oh, yeah, Kobe has two consecutive NBA Finals MVP awards. What does LeBron have?

I love LA,
Jerry

Yeah, Kobe is the man!  Until proven otherwise I will assume LeBron isn't strong enough to lift Bryant's jockstrap!  What a game, really looked like Boston might edge 'em out, but what a gutsy performance by LA in the clutch.  And what an historic Championship!  Kobe gets his 5th ring (and yet another for Fish), the franchise racks up a 17th title and Jackson moves out of the shadow of Red and into history as the greatest coach in NBA history.  Kudos all around!

Let the speculation on next season BEGIN!

Will Jackson return for another year?
Will Fisher finally retire?
What will the Celtics look like next year?  They may lose some power to free agency, and how long can KG keep it up?
Will the Joker finally figure out what it takes to live up to the presently-rediculous moniker of "The King"?

Tune in next year!

There is only one certainty; a "constant", if you will:

Will the Celts make a play for LeBron?

While I have been following this and am quite happy to see the LAKERS do the job, I have to admit some serious respect for the "desire" of Boston.

I think last night both teams wanted it and that made for a very exciting game.

But after wtaching these guys for the last two years and learning their personalities, I have to say the most amusing is Ron Artest.

He certainly was "the hero" last night.  His post game interview (after a little champagne) was a real treat.

I don't know if this will turn out to be true, but this report quotes Phil Jackson as "leaning towards retirement" right now. :o  What will L.A. do if he doesn't come back?  They have an assistant waiting in the wings, right?

No worries here. :thumb:   As expected, Phil will be back to defend his Championship. He's clearly stated that this is his last year. This will give time for Brian Shaw to get a handle on the reins.

However, all bets are off if the Lakers pull off another Threepeat. Phil will negotiate one more year to defend yet again.  :eyebrows:

What do you think about Lebron, Bosh, and D Wade? Will they be playing together somewhere? Pretty big egos, pretty big play makers. Pretty interesting free agency dilemma for a team's salary cap, and the trio's wallets, if they intend to play together.

Have fun,
Jerry

The Nets have $30 million in salary cap space - enough to lure James and Boozer to the team.  Quite a front court that would be - Lopez and Center and James and Boozer (or, David Lee, as perhaps a better, less egotistical and better shooter than Boozer).

Backcourt? Devin Harris and Courtney Lee.  Offensively, a fantastic starting five, overall. Defensively, possibly not enough to carry them to a banner...but a likely playoff berth guaranteed from the 12 wins of 2009-10 :)

From worst to likely top 4 in a year that would be...but likely not enough to make LeBron happy.

The Nets don't have a chance IMO.

The NY market might have some draw to Lebron...but with a team that bad, I seriously doubt it.  Miami has the capspace and the extra money from less taxes is substantial...but endorsement money is the bulk of his salary, I'm sure.  I don't know what draw Chicago would have...

I could definitely see him staying put...probably at least a 50% chance of that.  I don't know that Cleveland will ever turn into a dominant team and he probably realizes that, as well.  Really hard to say where his priorities lay.

Looks like Wade and Bosh will be teammates in Miami.
Lebron is scheduled to make his annoucement Thursday at 9pm.
This must be a first for an sports figure to hold a prime time press conference like he's the President.
Sources say he's still considering Miami but that's unlikely since the team will have about $1200 left to sign 10 more players.  Plus I think Lebron's ego is too big for that.  He wants to be the King and Cleveland is the best place for that, then New York.  Chicago is the best option but I still don't know if he wants to play in Michael's shadow.  Any big talent going to Chicago would be expected to deliver a championship, especially Lebron.  If he failed it would be a huge blow to his legacy.  He gave Cleveland a shot, they tried but I say he goes to NY and makes them relevant again.

Wow. They are all together in Miami.

It may have just turned impossible for Boston or Orlando to revisit the Finals any time soon. Then again, maybe not.  :thumb:

With the first, fourth, and fifth draft choices from the same draft year being on the same team (all Olympic Gold Medalists from the same team), the dynamic has changed for the whole league.

This will be fun to watch. :D

Pulling for the Threepeat,
Jerry
