I briefly thought about Thiels a couple of years back, and if I remember correctly there was a dealer in KC. I forget the name but it might be worth a road trip if you are interested and the dealer is still there.

Not every dealer carries every model.  If you go to Thiels website and so a search as to where 3.7s are available, there is nothing in Missouri - http://www.thielaudio.com/dealer_search/domestic

When my friend worked at the high end shop (5 years back), I did virtually most of his installs and set-ups with him for many years.  I met another friend that well who got the 1.6s and then the 2.4s.  I've owned the 2.3s, 7.2s and now have the 3.7s.  Unfortunately, I'm a long way from St. Louis.  I've set up and installed most of their line with a variety of electronics 5-10 years back.  I'd be happy to answer any questions.  The 3.7s will be a bit harder to drive than the 1.6s (although the 3.7s are much easier to drive than the 7.2s).  They are not quite as efficient and the impedance may be a bit more difficult for some amps depending on the size of your room, music preferences and how loudly you listen.  The 1.6s have sounded best to me driven by amplification such as VTL or Manley.
