Then of course the 3D version is going to usher in a whole new era.  That will sell steadily as people transition to 3D so they are going to double dip on record breaking sales.

I enjoyed the Blu-ray, the PQ was outstanding and the audio was pretty good too.
As far as the 3D version I don’t feel the 3D thing is going to go over that well at Christmas.

I was without a sub when I first watched Avatar on Blu Ray. My new sub came a few days ago and so I watched a few scenes and  !!! I think the 3D experience was the only thing missing...

Yes Avatar was a very good computermovie. Probably the best I have ever seen. But Hurt locker was a better real life movie. That's why it won the Best picture of 2009.

Does using really big text make your point any more valid?

I missed Avatar in the theater but watched it on Blu Ray a few days ago.  I very much enjoyed it and I usually don't go for films that are CGI heavy.  I haven't seen Hurt Locker yet but it is on my list.  Too many films to see and not enough time...

I missed the chance to see Avatar in the theater... I really wanted to go just could never find the time.  I loved it in Blu-ray on my calibrated Pioneer KRP-500M through my Oppo BDP-83 & Pioneer Elite SC-25 receiver.  I plan to buy a 65" Panasonic 3D Plasma in the fall if they've resolved their black level problems.  I cannot wait to see Avatar in 3D.

As for Titanic I just have one thing to say when will it release on Blu-ray?  I've owned it on Laserdisc and DVD and I'll buy the Blu-ray when it is released.

I saw it in 3D with my 9-year old, and it was ok ( the plot sucks IMHO) I do not see the point to own a copy in any format

The "true" Blu-Ray version will not be out until the November 2010 - it will have the special features that Blu-Rays are all supposed to have 

Then sometime next year the 3D version will come out.

The versions available now have no special features - none!

The movie is entertaining, but the story isn't anything new, it's been told many times before.
Visually it's  stunning and is worth it for that alone.
