I'm sure that Keith Kidder had no idea how popular the "Translam" style of speaker building would become.  I remember when he was putting his first ones together.  All he could do was talk about how the BB ate up bits and sandpaper.

I always liked the idea of routing the internal shapes to the profile of a midrange diffuser to be able to use minimal damping for bass and upper bass damping only.  Makes sense and would be very easy to do.

What does that mean?  Does that mean something like every other piece might be 1/4" larger in the inside dimension to give it a corrugated internal profile?

Steve, they would need to be staggered more than that, having a total differential of at least 4 inches or so.  If the minimum rib width was 1" then some would have to have a width of 3" to give a 4" differential side to side.  The wider pieces could have holes drilled in them to get volume back - or slots milled into them.  It would be a pain in the butt although it would give an incredibly stiff and inert cabinet due to the varying wall thicknesses.

A slight modification was made. They are now being packed up and it looks like will get picked up tomorrow.

Awesome!  Are the small holes there for alignment?

Looks like two up front and two in the back.

The small holes are for alignment dowels.

I have ten pairs coming.

I'll know the exact cost as soon as I find out how much the shipping will be.

Might be an interesting way to do some OB's too - building a baffle (shaped to your taste and design) from lam like that.
