Last night's listening session consisted of:

Tracks 2 - 5 are my favorite on this album

Brubeck plays live at Newport in the summer of '58. The Brubeck Quartet's tribute to Duke Ellington. This was a Japanese import CD that I ordered. Columbia never released it on CD in the US, that I'm aware of.

I really like this Oscar Peterson album. "Close Your Eyes" and "The Spirit Feel" are both awesome tracks. The brass arrangements were done by Russel Garcia.
I'm a big fan of Oscar's internal time keeping. Brubeck is all over the map, tempo-wise between the beats. Oscar's a freaking machine at internal, between the beat, tempo. Also nice work by Ray Brown on bass and Mr Thigpen on drums.

When I listen to this, I can still remember how the original album went and where Mr. Parsons did some of the re-edits. The re-edits don't bother me as much as they used to.
