Eric Clapton's Unplugged.

Anyone notice the terrible bass-lag on this one? Bought it because of the rave 'sound-engineerin' reviews, but bass is frustratingly late, (and a bit to prominent for my taste...)

This evenings session was:

Electric Light Orchestra - Face The Music     this was the early 2000's release with the bonus tracks

Electric Light Orchestra - Secret Messages    this was the original redbook CD.  I do wish that Mr. Lynne would release the "complete" Secret Messages that he envisioned before it was cut to a single album by CBS.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra - Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite" 1919 version and Borodin's Polovestian Dances.   This is a Telarc recording, engineered by Jack Renner.  Mr. Renner is one of my favorite recording engineers. He sure knew how to record an Orchestra.

David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk CD set - Disc 2.   High Hopes and Comfortably Numb.    Nice performance but not a great recording.  I'm not wild about the mix on this.  The strings seem strained and the first acoustic segment I wish Gilmour's acoustic guitar was more up front.  On the other hand, the slide guitar work was to up front.   Love the perfomance, but I would have mixed it differently.

A relatively short session for me this evening.   I still love my Bryston.  It makes such sweet music!

ripped through the BDP1:
utterly amazing sound quality, recording date 1960's...

http://www.amazon.com/Mahler-Complete-Symphonies-~-Bernstein/dp/B0000589BP

hear all the little (and bigger) accidents, turning pages, stampeding Bernstein, a real treat this is. And a great upbeat to his later recordings and performances. Bernstein the Magician.

Wow,
Marius
