Icon Desktop Power Knob
« on: 27 Mar 2010, 03:27 am »
Hi All,

I have been using Icon Desktop for almost 1 year now.
The icon is connected to a power strip.
I keep the icon power knob on all the time at 3 o clock level.
I power it on and off indirectly by switch on or off the power strip.
Now I found out that the icon power knob cannot be turn off.
The power know can be moved counter clockwiase to the minimum level
but it cannot be turn off with a click.
It is still working alright but just cannot be turn off.
Any body please advise.

Do you hear a click when you turn the knob all the way anti-clockwise?

I can turn the knob all the way anti clockwise to 6 oclock but it does not power off and I do not hear any click sound.

Completely mystery why you can't turn it down to the click.  That's the setting that turns off the power.  It could be a sticky pot or mechanical related.  Please file a help desk ticket to arrange for service.  If you're overseas, please contact your local Nuforce distributor.

Thank you Casey.
I am in Thailand.
So I am on my own.
I think I will get the service from local repair shop to check it out if it is mecahnical related.
What is sticky pot ?
Please advise how to order spare parts in case I need them.

Looks like you might want to order a replacement volume pot if you think there is a need to turn it off.
May be the off switch is damaged but why bother to turn it off. It doesn't consume much power (1.5W or something). But if you really want to order the pot, use the Help Desk ticket (we need it for tracking and response), this forum is not designed for official support use.

It will cost me US$ 100 for power knob spare part (exclude shipping cost).
That's 50% of original cost of icon.

Says who? That volume knob can't be that expensive. Why don't you contact our support directly?

$100 for one part?  I guess these are disposable items.   Like Kleenex.

Anna didn't realize that it is for a volume knob.
The price quote was for a complete board replacement. We can try to send you a volume control knob (with parts and shipping cost covered by you).

Please don't use this forum for such support use (this is not an official Nuforce support forum). Email to directsales@nuforce.com and I can help you.

The volume knob is not a cheap item, but should be very affordable (have to check the parts price). Again, contact directsales@nuforce.com.  We don't read this forum frequently.
