There is not much I can do about that.  If I were to tell her the sofa needs to go because the speakers would sound better..... well, let's just say that's not a good plan.  It helped pulling the speakers forward and getting them a little further away from the couch.   I did not think the imaging was bad, but now you have drawn my attention to it.  Maybe I could aim the speakers a llittle towards the center of the room to help.  More experimenting...
