When you say you are using the line-out from your iPod, I take that to mean you are using the line-out derived from the bottom dock connector, and not the headphone output jack?

Correct, I use a Dynex Universal 5-in-1 docking station for the iPod.
I may look into improvements in that area later (perhaps even a music server).

Thank you for the info concerning gauge, Radio Shack just sold me the wrong wire then...
I will correct that.

The Dayton DTA-1 amp and Klipsch F1 speakers are installed with the iPod line-out as audio source.

I have to admit, last night it was hard to turn off the power and go to bed.
Such a pleasure to listen to my music. The DTA-1 delivers enough power for these speakers, the volume is only around half way up.

Thank you all for your advice and encouragement. I look forward to affordable upgrades in the future, and I will enjoy each upgrade as much as this first step.

Hello All,

Recently I replaced my iPod Touch setup with a vortexbox music server based on the ECS MD110, with a 1 TB drive.
(storage for 3000 CD's in flac?), total cost less than $200.

Currently I have the line-out of the server connected to the Dayton DTA-1.
I'm researching a USB-DAC and I'm hoping for feedback on the Topping TP30 with integrated USB-DAC.

Has anyone experience with this product, are any reasonable alternatives?

Thank you very much!
