jtwrace - I'm not sure I understand your question? What I think you're asking is why don't I use super expensive, solid platinum, cryo treated plugs and IECs?

The answer is simple. There's no need for that nonsense in an AC power cable. My design goal is to make the very best cables that I know how and find the most reasonably priced components to reach that goal. I know for a fact that a platinum/gold/cryo treated connector plug will spec worse than a standard plug from Hubbell, Pass & Seymour,  Marinco, etc. and will cost at least 50 times more. I refuse to use such parts because the cost of the cable will increase exponentially and the cable will perform worse. But if you want a cable like that and can afford it, I'll be more than happy to make one for you :)

dBe - I agree with everything you say about XLR cables except for hanging shields. Hanging shields are utilized for broken pro equipment, or when mixing consumer electronics with pro electronics (i.e. going from a Goldmund preamp via XLR to an Electro Voice crossover, this can cause a hum).

mjosef - Money back guarantee within 30 days, not including any shipping costs, just like the first post says. And not including any promos, or any strange special order configurations. And yes, I have no problem whatsoever going against the Grover's.

So sure of yourself.... and so wrong.

dBe - Can you provide an example of a real pro company like Shure, Audio Technica, Sony, Yamaha, etc. who uses an XLR cable with a hanging shield? I don't think I've seen one and would be curious. However, I've see plenty of hanging shields from the so called audiophile companies.

Also, can you provide an example where the shield is hanging on a power cord and RCA interconnect? Also from a large company: Shure, Audio Technica, Furman, Zero Surge, Tripplite, APC, Belkin, Cables2Go, Sony, Yamaha, Samsung, Panasonic, etc., etc., etc.

And here's the problem I've explained directly from www.aes.org

http://www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=10228

As a matter of fact, this website is all anyone needs to determine the proper way of shielding and proper pin configurations.

One more link from Van Den Hul:

http://www.vandenhul.com/userfiles/docs/Audio_and_Video_Cable+Connector_Wiring_Diagrams_for_DIY_purposes.pdf

Scroll down to page 3 and see the note:

Note: Van den Hul ready made balanced cables "STANDARDLY" have the cable shield connected at both ends
allowing correct functionality with microphones and electrical instruments as well as with line level audio and
AES/EBU digital connections, latter two assuming properly grounded equipment.

I rest my case.

Are you saying that the more expensive ends are no good or the cryo or both?

jtwrace - I'm saying that cryo is a complete joke. And plugs with exotic metals perform worse electrically.

BobM - I'm making all the samples right now and will be getting them out by middle of next week, that's the goal. They will include: 1m XLR, 1.5m XLR, 1m RCA, 1.5m RCA, 2m AC, 2m AC, 1m RCA Digital, and 15ft. speakers wires.

Please take me off your list Norbert,,, I'd really rather have nothing to do with all this. As it is with some other businesses around here, your attitude just rubs me the wrong way and regardless of whether or not you do have the best cables in the world, I would never do business with you anyways so there's really no sense in continuing the charade on my part. Good luck with your venture, you're probably gonna need it.

Cheers,

I'm saying that cryo is a complete joke.

I'm not a big believer in cryo, but some people are.  I would probably say, "I haven't seen any performance advantages in cryogenically treating connectors or cables, and therefore don't incorporate them in my products".

And plugs with exotic metals perform worse electrically.

I think that exotic metals or plating probably don't offer much performance advantage and also probably are not worth their increased cost.  But do you have data to support your claim that they perform worse electrically?

As a vendor trying to sell a product, I am somewhat surprised by the manner in which you have presented yourself throughout this thread.  I don't know if you have a good product or not, and certainly one is entiltled to their opinions, but perhaps you would be better served to present it with a bit less ego, argumentation and dismissiveness?

srb - The answer is very simple, and yes I do have data:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resistivity

The less resistive the metals in the plug connectors and cables are, the better electrically. Simple as that. The more exotic metals are more resistive. Why would anyone want to use them is beyond me. They're significantly more expensive and they perform worse electrically. Unless ofcourse it's the exotic superconductors!!! Now these would truly be the best cables in the world if anyone can make them cheap, wide bandwidth, and operate at room temperature.

As a vendor I try to make my claims interesting and unique and build my products to very high standards, but I always have the respect to accept the electrical physics and avoid claiming false information. Unlike many others in this industry...

I've had a few (not a lot) opportunities to check out cryo'ed and non cryo'ed products and I can say with little authority that I did hear a difference, but not always for the better. In fact, so far most often for the worse. But I did hear a difference!

As for plating ... my feeling is the purer the metal the better. I definitely like pure copper over anything else, including gold or rsilver or hodium plating, even if the upkeep on that copper takes more effort.

Copper is certainly one of the best metals for connectors, however, it is better if it's silver plated. Copper oxidizes and copper oxide is more resistive than copper, so no good. Silver also oxidizes, but silver oxide is actually less resistive than silver!! An oxidized silver connector actually becomes better electrically speaking.

So now you are false advertising?  The tittle of this thread is Best Audio Cables in the World!!! Guaranteed!!!

I completely disagree in your opionion to cryo.  That's just me though...

I would like to flex my knowledge of the many heavy metals. Personally Plutonium rods sound the best, but you die quickly. Now if you cover them in silver you may live .0008732548 seconds longer. Advantage. Silver Plating.

jtwrace - If you find me some room temperature superconductors, I will update my entire cable line :)

If some of you believe in cryo, it is YOUR responsibility to prove that they are electrically superior, not my responsibility to disprove them. So... Anyone care to share some real data?
