I have never used an RTA and looking for some info on using and buying one (cheaper would be best) and learning about measurements. Your help is most appreciated.

The most cost effective would probably be Room Eq Wizard. You can download it free and all you need is a mic (RS SPL Meter) and sound card.

There is also a help forum on on the shack site dedicated to REW which you'll need.
