Mullard is the brand.

Tube rolling is like an easter egg roll. You get on all fours and roll the tube around on its side. Greatest tweak in the world. It heats up the filament . :duh: :nono:  I cold not resist .Only kidding. It is swapping out tubes.

Need to order a pair as well.

Mariusz,

If you're ordering the opamps let me know.  I would like to get a pair and we can split shipping.  No sense to pay twice for shipping.

Initial impression of opamp change is dead on. Less shrill, better bass and I think more laid back. I will have to give it  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:. A worthy upgarde. For my ears that is. We will see what happens. I am also breaking in some new Mullards on my Pre and I also have more Grover cables on the way

The opamp swap may be just the ticket.  If I can get the Maverick to sound close to my modded DI/O I'll be a happy camper.

I am planning to order it over the weekend.  Let me know if anyone else wants to and I will tag it on to my order.

please take pictures Even.
You're good with the camera and trustworthy with follow ups.
Hopefully it was a worthy investment ?

Probably not....... (I am saying it because we have no more vacancies on the tour).  :duh:

But honestly, you have to try it for yourself.. Then roll some tubes, swap opamps and come with your own conclusions.  If you are looking for reference DAC, this might not be it but if you need good DAC, need an preamp, listen to cans on occasions, need a computer audio hub or building a second system. Then, I would say 100% go for it.

YMMV

Mariusz :thumb:

Here is my op amp install replacing the stock LF 353N's.  The LT 1364 is next to the tube and an LM 4562 NA is the other op amp next to the gray wire.  The tube is a NOS GE 5670.

The middle picture is of the pseudo DIY amp I use for my computer rig.  It is in the spirit of cheap and cheerful.

Thanks MLS

according to Even it is as easy as swaping tubes.
Pull old opamp out, push new opamp in.
Pay attention to opamp orientation while inserting new opamp.
Even can tell you why. :thumb:

cheers  :P

I work in the city near grand central so we can meet up around there or near port authority or I can always stick it back in the mail.

And some interesting news from Maverick Audio:

We (Audio Circle members) might be one of the first to hear Maverick Audio new products.

When?

A month or two.

What is it?

Not sure if I can say much but hell with that!!!!

It is going to be a mini tube/transistor hybrid power amp + headphone amp.

And yes, it will be as affordable as D-1 DAC.

Methink, these two will make you really cheerful !!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

No Problem Mariusz.

It is actually fiddly to get the op amps in but not difficult.  I grounded myself when I did it also.  The op amp tube combo I have above is my favorite so far.  I use the D1 mostly in my computer set up but I have installed it in my main rig using a lap top as the source and the D1 as a tubed pre-amp and DAC and it sounded pretty good even using run of the mill cables and the stock power cable compared to my slightly modded Jolida CD player with fancy cables and fancy power cable.

I am hoping to pair the D1 up with one of the Class D amps when I get the funds to order 1.  I hope to be able to build a nice little second system/computer set up, Cheap and Cheerful style. :D

Scott

PS.  Mariusz,  Ryan just emailed me about the same upcoming product yesterday.

Hey Evan,

Which one did you order?  When I do a search for LT1364CN8 I get two results.  I think you order the first one.

I am also going to stop by Radio Shacl tommorow and pick up a heatsink to attatch to the top of the opamp. They say it may run hotter than the stock ones.I ran mine for a while and touched them and they weren't hot, but just to be safe.
