Well I guess we can say the tour has officially started. Mariusz has just dopped the D1 off at my house and that's right it's hooked up and playing already.

Build quality is excellent . Nice metal case with some weight to it. Buttons and knobs fell nice and secure.
I hooked this to my SB3 via coax out using a Creative Cable Concepts Black Knight digital cable to the D1 and at first to the regular outputs to my Candela using simple Blue Jeans cable. First impressions off the bat increase in dynamics ,extended highs a litte harsh sounding but still good. Then I realized was not using the tube output. I made the switch and viola the harshness was gone.I only use my SB3 to stream from Rhabsody which is 192k mp3 and was very happy with the sound .For the 1/2 hr of listening so far I have better dynamics ,tighter bass and smooth crisp highs. This so far is far better than the dac in the SB and even then you would be surprised you are not listening to a cd. Good imaging and huge soundstage.
I have not opened the unit up to look inside because it is not mine so no pics. I'm sure you have seen them.
I am listenening to Ben Harper -Fight For Your Mind -MP3 from Rhapsody and it sounds really good. I can't wait to hear what happens when this really breaks in. The only other Dac I have listened to in the same manner is the Pardisea which has a more liquid sound but I don't remember if it was as detailed. Hey I could do an A/B which I might since the Paradisea is just next door. But for the price difference you will not go wrong I will try the usb port and report back later in the week and also let you know of any break in changes.
So far this is a WINNER
