Dennis Chambers has a huge selection of albums available.  Any specific suggestions to check out?

Thanks
Dave

Weakness:
1)  Cymbals sound recessed and muted.  On a few recordings these sound fine but on most, I feel like I'm missing something.  Cymbals usually are identifiable as to the different types, but I'm having trouble distinguishing the differences.

I agree with oneinthepipe on this one, the problem with cymbals in your setup is not the HT2-TL's. On Shelby Lynne's Just a Little Lovin' CD, cymbals sound very realistic on oneinthepipe's system and on my system. We both have HT2 TL's and AVA DAC's, but we have different amps & preamps, and very different rooms.

In my system cymbals tend to be pretty prominent, but that depends on the recording. I agree with floresjc about Dave Matthews Band's "Before these Crowded Streets" and "Crash" sounding great, but I wasn't that impressed with those albums sound quality with the HT2 TL's until I upgraded my electronics (I was using a Denon receiver for 2 channel). On Miles-Gurtu "Golden Rust" has a lot going on but the cymbals sound great.

I have HT3s and the cymbals are sublime. Take a Jack Dejohnette playing 12 different cymbals and clamps and triangles, switching using the front and back of the sticks. The decay, the air, the openess, the shimmer, the distinction of each, with my set, it is one of the strengths, and probably most commented on segment of the playback spectrum.

So, don't leave me hanging, which recording is this?

If you want cymbals and bass, I highly recommend listening to these songs:

Steely Dan - "Kid Charlemange" (The Royal Scam or any of their compilations)
The Bad Plus - "Keep the Bugs off Your Glass and the Bears off Your Ass" (These Are the Vistas)
Ben Harper - "Gold to Me" (Fight for Your Mind)
Rush - The Rhythm Method (A Show of Hands)

George

I just ordered The Bad Plus' These Are The Vistas and Rush's A Show of Hands ($0.58 Used Like New condition plus $2.98 shipping on Amazon Marketplace   :thumb:).  Thanks for the recommendations.

HT3's

only weakness I see is this -
if the recording or your upstream audio equipment has an issue
(too bright, etchy, etc)
you will hear it

main strength I see -  same point - if the recording is great - tonal balance, imaging, etc, and your upstream audio is good or great - wow,

no
