3 things really piss me off about this thing.

1. As Crimson said no multitasking
2. They wanted this thing to be an in-between for the iPhone and a Laptop, yet both my laptop and my iPhone have a camera and with my computer can do video conferencing. Please explain why this thing has a microphone, gps, 3G capability, but no camera for video conferencing? Are you kidding me?
3. Speaking of having 3G, speaker, bluetooth and microphone why no voice at all???? It's obviously too big to fit in your pocket for whipping out to make a quick call, but it has the freaking equipment to do so, yet fails to. I suppose there will be some sort of back door app that allows this functionality, but it should be native.

I know there is no way in hell Apple could have delivered on the mouth foaming hype, but all they have here is a small computer with Multitouch. I'm the biggest Apple fan on the planet, yet I am not ecstatic over this. I'm sure what it does it does well, but the only thing truly revolutionary is the fact that it can have built in 3G. C+

I thought about the lack of a camera, but it's only purpose would be for videoconferencing. Can't see someone holding up an iPad (don't like the name; sounds like a feminine hygiene product) to take a picture.

I'm really disappointed with the lack of multitasking, something even the iPhone should have by now.

Yes, true portable video conferencing is the only thing this thing could have done that a laptop and an iPhone cannot. Yes an in between product between an iPhone and a Laptop makes perfect sense, but only if it has some distinguishing capability that neither your computer or your phone are able to do. Can you name a single one that this one does that neither of those can? Didn't think so.

I don't own an iPhone or iPod Touch, so this is much more appealing to me.

Personally, I could care less about the iPad taking pictures or providing video conferencing.  That's not how I would use it.  Multitasking...that's a different story.

I don't think it needs to be able to do something neither a smart phone or a laptop can do, but rather 'smarter' than a smart phone but less so than a laptop. Something in between. Which it is.

Another big thing it has going is the App Store.

But no multitasking? I still can't get over it.

I love my iTouch and I don't even use it for music.
This is a giant iTouch and I want one.

Great for surfing, emails, reading, watching video online.

On this I completely disagree. An in between product with no distinctive feature set to call it's own is bound to failure. I just cannot see one here. I bought a laptop so I could have a portable device with decent computing power. I bought my first iPhone because it was the first time I could surf the internet on a super portable device without the experience completely sucking. Now why should I buy an iPad? No distinguishing feature, unless you call being able to do things better than a Touch a distinguishing feature.

I think it needs a hinged cover with a built in keyboard. That would rock...

They have them already. They're called Macbooks.  :P :P

You might not buy it, but do you want to place a wager on Apple having trouble trying to sell iPads?

I want one.  Why?

It's smaller than a netbook and the interface is wonderful.  Browsing the web on an iPhone/iTouch is tremendous and everything is nice and quick on a beautiful interface.  It's an ultraportable device that does everything the iTouch does (I think), but larger and only a little more expensive.  If it didn't have the amazing Apple touchpad, I wouldn't be interested.

By the way, Apple does not make a product called the iTouch.

Both my kids have Ipod Touch. For my old eyes, the screen is inscrutably small. This Ipad might be useful for elders who have trouble with tiny buttons and symbols and print. I'm not sure how I would use one but I can definitely see where it would be attractive to others.

Could it be used as a remote for a Mac Mini based audio system? Does it bluetooth?

What's your point??  There's no forum called "AC" either, it's really called Audio Circle, but no one on here would dare call anyone on it; that would be silly.  We've called the iPod touch the iTouch for quite awhile.  Everyone (but you) knows what we mean (the whole idea behind "communication")..

Personally I'm gonna use this as my combination replacement for my iTouch :) remote for my Macbook music server itunes/amarra and/or itunes/pure-vinyl players (apple remote app) and as my VNC display/keyboard in order to manage the server remotely (macbook will run as closed clamshell device sitting on my rack..i.e. headless).   Not to mention as traveling surf board, email pad, etc.

Is there an app out there such that the IPad (or Iphone/Itouch for that matter) can learn infrared remote codes and then transmit?  If this thing could learn to control the volume and input selection on my amp...... :eyebrows:!

Thanks for any info.
