I've heard its possible the IPhone is going to be available elsewhere and should be announced soon.  That'd be cool.

I was told that Verizon will be getting the iphone.  I would be surprised because they have the Droid....  We'll see!

Crimson,  Thank you for the links and heads up.

First link does not work.  Twitter link has audio only for the event with talking heads at the studio as the video. And the audio is barely intelligible. What time is the actual event?

Servers are apparently being overloaded all over the place; Macworld's blog is having problems

dB Cooper,

Thank you for the update.  Apparently they are not Apple servers.

Starts at $499 for 16GB + wifi to $829 for 64GB + wifi + 3G. Data plans run $15 and $30 with AT&T. Available in 60 days, 90 days for 3G models.

Two questions:

1. Is it multitasking?
2. Is it multitasking?

I personally don't see the 'breakthrough.'  The size, of course, is great. . .and the touchscreen.  However, if I had one, I still think I would use my laptop 95% of the time.

I feel the exact opposite.

My laptop is big, runs hot, and can get loud (cheap Dell model) - the iPad would be a big improvement and be perfect for what I want to do in my music chair (connect to music, surf the web, read e-mail and books, play games, etc...).

Ditto. But is it multitasking?

Zybar,

Understandable.  However, how is this different than any other current tablet PC (other than the 3G capability)?

Not trying to be antagonistic, I just don't see the big deal. . . yet?

What other tablet would you compare it to that has similar features/functionality at the same price?

I don't know of one, but I'll admit that I am not real knowledgeable in this area.

I'm not super knowledgeable on such things, either. . .     But, there are 'netbooks' that have keyboards for cheaper (such as one from Nokia for $600). . .and some do have 3G.  Other tablet PCs with touchscreens that are similar, but a bit bigger.  (Yes, some much more expensive!)

It is cool, but it hasn't even come close to living up to its hype, in my mind.  It just seems like a bigger iTouch (with a few more features), without a camera.  If it was maybe $300 to $350 cheaper for the top of the line model, I could see myself getting one, though.

I'm done being negative on this!   :P  Looking forward to future reviews.
