The devils in the details- VMPS RM40 revisited

I just went back to Josh's last night to hear his VMPS RM 40'S after numerous tweaker upgrades were done- room treatments, vibration control, and speaker positioning.  HOLY SHIT!  Though I had very little time in the sweet spot during the NY Audio Rave meeting last time, I felt the speakers were really airy sounding with great bass and good specificity within the soundstage.  However, I felt the sweetspot was really, really narrow and didn't seem to to expand width wise on either side of the speaker.  Moreover, we listened to the same orchestral track ad nauseum, so testing out the midrange with some juicy vocal tracks just wasn't going to happen.

Well, I'm happy to say Josh has tweaked his system perfectly now and, once again, HOLY SHIT!  Now the image is at least a foot or two wider and the midrange is really, really transparent- the ribbon speed and neutrality really make the midrange liquid.  Bass was tight and highs were very airy.  I'm stunned by the changes, but it really sounded magical.  Way to tweak the hell out of your system to get the right sound, Josh.  The devil is in the details! :D

Thanks Mike....last night was pretty fun.  I think Daniel noted that my setup changes were worthwhile also.
