How difficult would it be to make a 3 channel version of this amp to complement the stereo amp in a HT system?

There is not enough room in the chassis to add a third channel as the 440 has four output transistors per channel (the HC version has six), and they use all of the available heatsink space.

We do offer the Insight 240/3 amplifier.  The 240, being lower power, uses two output transistors per channel; therefore, we have enough heatsink space to make a three channel version.  We also offer the double device option on the Insight 240/3 for those that want to drive a bit more difficult load (speaker).

Thanks,

The 240/3 is probably more than adequate for this use since the surround channels often don't require as much power.

I bought a Double 240/3 to run my center channel and the two rears in a 5.1 setup. It has no problems with any source material, and it is driving a Salk SongCenter and two SongTowers. It doesn't even really get that warm.

I have a Double 240 to run the front L/R in the compact chassis, and it gets quite warm, actually kind of hot over the cards, but this is probably due to the fact that the compact form factor has no heat sinks on the back. But it is nowhere near failing in either power output or heat dissipation.
