That's a great rectifier for the Decware Zen C - not the Select.  I paid more than double for that same tube 10 years ago.  Highly recomended. :thumb:

Well Oscillate, I got my Mhdt Havana and the newly purchased Bendix Red Bank 6385 tube back from being successfully cryoed by Cryoparts, now comes the fun part of breaking in and seasoning the Dac & tube. After 12 hours, the whole setup isn't nearly as laid back as it was before cryo'ing but from what i've read about cryo'd tubes, I'm not surprised. The clarity of the 6385 is still there, no doubt bout that and it's getting better n' better..

Compared to the GE 5670 that comes with the Havana and is a good tube in it's own right, the 6385 is in a whole different league clarity wise. Tawt bass and crystaline highs are the highlites of this fabulous tube. I think once things settle, the laid back features that the Havana had before cryo will return. This ain't my 1st rodeo with compionent cryo'ing, I've been down this road before. But I wanted to let you know upfront that there were no issues with the cryo'ing the Bendix Red Bank 6385.  :thumb:

Cheers,
Robin

Update Bruno,

I went back inside the Havana and switched the direction of the H-Fi fuse that the above Head-Fi picture had indicated to be right. The plain fact is the fuse's direction is just the opposite, at least to these ears. While I had blamed harshness issues with the cryo job, it turned out to be this fuse placement instead. When switched, my sound stage width surpassed this 17' wide room and the 3D sound stage depth literally exploded. Also coming out into it's own is the Bendix Red Bank 6385,,, this is one imcredibly clean tube with clarity that far surpasses that of the stock GE 5670. This tube was well worth the $125 and more imho and I'm really happy I went the extra mile and had this tube cryoed by Lee Weiland of Cryoparts.

Color me totally blown away Bruno, was both an honor and a privilege to have done business with you. I got really lucky to have both found this NOS tube and to have gotten it cryoed.  :notworthy:

Cheers,
Robin

Wow!  The Bendix 6385 arrived in best package I've ever received, which included a finely crafted little wooden box that contained the Red Banks in Brand New original boxes.  The tubes are excellent and Bruno's correspondence was highly informative and  pleasant indeed. A great guy to deal with and a great product!

Updated 7/28/10 ...finally got around to finding new web-hosting for the photos.

Added: 'Lot of 4 tubes' Three WE396A and one RCA 5670 Command.

I am able to do this because the Paradisea+ DAC has been sold. It was the only
piece of audio equipment I have that uses this family of tubes ....so I am selling
my personal cache of tubes.

I just wanted to thank Bruno and post about his customer service.  He took the time to answer multiple emails quickly.  The tubes were crazy over packaged and arrived as described and safe.  I would highly recommend buying tubes from Bruno!

Thans Bruno for the great service and for shipping to Canada. The package was so over the top. What a comfort. The wood box was a nice touch as well as the follow up emails.

I will let you know what I think of the Bendix 6385 in my Havana Dac.

I just recieved the 3 Bendix 6106 Rectifiers.  They have all been tested in my Champ and all 3 passed.  The improvement in tone and touch is obvious.  I love the tubes and am well pleased with the excellent quality, which is exactly as you described.  Our correspondence was fast and friendly.  The price was fair.  The packaging was, however, another story.  The unique packing techniqe that you employ in making sure the tubes travel safely is the best I have ever experienced.  You don't leave much of a possibility of internal damage during shipment.  As I mentioned in a PM to you, I am looking into patenting your packing method... Rg  :D

PM sent. I'm very interested in additional Bendix 6385 tubes, if anyone following this thread has some that they no longer need. Santa says that I'm on the good list.

Thanks,

Gary

Bruno, thanks so much for the fantastic 6385 tubes. The condition of the tubes and the factory packaging are astounding. It looks as though they came out of a time capsule.  As others have commented, your packaging is both amusing and highly impressive. The best I have seen in over two hundred transactions involving audio gear. It's been a true pleasure dealing with you.
