How can I tell if either the Denon 2900 or 5900 have DPL2?

Denon, in their product outlines, says each player has "built in Dolby Digital".

I'd like to know if this means that Dolby Pro Logic II is included or not. How can I find out? Anyone know?

Hi, to the best of my knowledge, this means that the digital multichannel format Dolby Digital is supported. If a multichannel track is presented on a DVD (or even on a CD, I guess), it is properly decoded and sent to the appropriate L/R/C/LR/RR/SW channel.

DPL2 is for turning stereo tracks into surround sound by guessing in a smart way what should go where.

Neither the 2900 or 5900 will have this feature. I have the 2900 but can check the manual again if you want.

I gladly give my opinion for a better one.

Yes. I'd like to find a universal player with DPL2 so that I can play CDs into 5.1.
I think I'm out of luck unless I buy a pre-pro that has DPL2.

Yeah, I think you're outta luck, there. That has to be done in the processor.

Through in an input on one of these and you'd have a full processor
