If this has been asked, apologies, but is there a way to hook up a sub (or several)?

You should be able to go from output 2 to your sub.  :thumb:

Can someone give me an idea of the ah rating or the battery vs the playing time of the buffer.  I read the thread but didn't find it.

Thanks,
Ed

If I remember correctly, it's ~2 hour per ah.  The draw is dependent on the tube used but 700ma is what I remember to use...

Gary?

Yep, with the Amperex 7308s mine is drawing about 780 ma according to an old simpson meter I have.  I figure an hour and a half per AH.  Of course I have a 100AH battery, so.............. :thumb:

I'm considering it.  I would need to sell my Jolida 102B.  I would be running a self modded T-amp (at least for a while) into a pair of Danny's V-1 coaxs.  I already have 10 ah of SLA batts with charger and enclosure available from an old amplifier build.

Ed

Great!

Maybe Danny will loan you his...I would if I were closer, I would.
I don't know anything about the Jolida but you will NOT be disappointed.  This buffer replaced a VERY high dollar tube pre.  I say, GO FOR IT!!!! :green:

Nice Amps!
Also waaay out of my league.  Of course with 96dB speakers I won't need anything close to that amount of power.

I had electrostats before the 3 way...I've also been playing with the Class D audio amps.

Thanks for the heads up!  I am still wrestling with this a bit.  I have too many things changing at once.  I think I will probably wait until after I have completed my V-1s (hopefully within the next month) and then take stock of the rest of the system to determine where my limited audio funds should go next.

Thanks again.

Ed

This battery thing sounds very cool. I see someone mentioned a 'pulse' charger; is there a non pulse charger that could be used while the amp/buffer is being used?
I'm familiar with RWA, is there a charging system like their's and how much would all that stuff cost? I think it would have to be at least 50AH for extended playing time if it couldn't charge while in use.
Thanks.

See my post in the begining of this thread (post #39)....all of that cost $80.  Yes, battery and charger.  You can use a non pulse charger such as a battery tender.  No need though.  Just get a good battery with the desired ah rating (about 1.5hrs per ah) and go!  This is one of the best pieces of gear I've ever bought.

+1 on that.  The total lack of noise and the dynamic contrasts are pretty amazing

I miss my buffer already...it's only been 5hrs.  I plugged another piece in so I could listen and OMG.   :nono:  This isn't working...so bad I shut it down.   :duh:

Can't wait for the upgraded buffer to come back.  Make it happen Gary! :thumb: :green:

Would one of you guys who currently own the buffer please give me a width and thickness measurement of the faceplate.  I am building an enclosure for a amp and I would like to build a matching case for it.  It will be a bit taller but I can match width.

Thanks,
Ed
