« on: 14 Nov 2009, 10:13 pm »
i have my cambridge audio dacmagic connected via optical to my imac. when i set my MIDI Audio settings to 96khz, i just get crazy fuzz even at minimal volumes with no signal being sent to the dac. any suggestions?

thanks,
Zach

A few questions: Are you upsampling or using native 24/96 material? Are you restarting iTunes after changing the AudioMidi settings? Does everything work fine at 16/44.1? I've done 24/96 via the toslink output on an iMac with no issues.

Yes I was using 24/96 files, and I tried restarting iTunes. It also does work on 44.1 and 48. It had nothing to do with iTunes though, as the fuzz was coming out even with iTunes closed.

So you get the noise with nothing playing. Could be the dac. Any way you can get your hands on another 24/96-capable dac?

Stupid questions but what the heck:
Does your DAC show 96k on it's sample rate light?
Are you sure you have only toslink/optical connected, not both optical and coax (manual says they fight each other and don't work)?
