WTB: Platter Mat, Weight or Clamp for my Thorens
« on: 21 Oct 2009, 03:33 pm »
I'm looking to do some tweaking without spending a bunch of coin.  I'd like to try some different mats to see what the sonic differences are, or a weight or clamp.  I know that many mats shouldn't be used in conjunction with a weight or clamp, so I could go either way.  My table is a Thorens TD-280 MkII, which is an unsuspended blet-drive model. For the record (no pun intended), I've tried a DIY cork mat, but haven't been overwhelmed with the difference from the stock rubber mat.

If you have anything lying around unused that you're looking to sell at a reasonable cost, let me know!

Thanks,

Tom

Hi there, I have a TT Weights Light Clamp, about 290 gams and I've added another 100 plus grams of lead shots...
PM me if you are interested.
Thanks

these (and other clamps/weights) work best, ime, w/platters/mats that are ever-so-slightly concave...

another inexpensive clamp from kabusa:
