So I was going to get him to do some granite type coatings on my MDF and see how it turned out.

I have some flat pack Super-V cabinets coming and will have him do a pair as soon as they get here.

Nay, that wouldn't even be fair. That would be like showing up to a gun fight only to see me holding a bazooka. 

I am thinking that an N3 kit and a single servo sub would be a much more fair comparison. Maybe the YG guys can see this and take it as a challenge. They have been going head to head with everybody else this year and publicizing it as part of their ad campaign.

Sounds about like the right odds to me against the best speaker in the world!

That comes when they're done....it's an amazing amount of work.  The key is that you cut only once and not have to make a prototype and then the first piece.  This isn't wood where it's cheap.  When you factor in material (aluminum) and machine time, it's scary!

I'd love to start today, but I just don't have the time. I'm putting in 7 days a week right now. However, as soon as I get a minute to breathe I'll get started. I have a lot of different ideas in mind. Danny and I have already discussed what can and can't be altered.

Maybe jwtrace and I could have a Super V build off!!!

I would assume the opening size in the top baffle would be the same(?)

not sure if I could alter the original x-over, or if I would have to start from scratch.

I could always keep the co-axs that I pull.....or maybe sell them......hmm

the V-1s and the Supers...would the upgrade be worth the extra $?

I am really happy with mine......I just feel maybe I jumped aboard a little too soon, and maybe should of waited
a bit for the supers......what you think?

As great as my V-1s are sounding I still wonder if I had waited for the SuperVs how much improvement could be heard (I bought my V-1 coaxes a year before I finished the speakers).

Unfortunately PDR, the 12" SuperV coaxial is slightly bigger than the units we have (.195" larger cutout and .295" larger recessed flange area).  I believe the SuperV has a considerably more complex crossover than the V-1.

I too would like to hear what the real world difference would be heard with the upgrade.

This was Danny's response when asked the differences between the V-1 and SuperV shortly after announcing that the SuperV would be at RMAF (in other words, shortly after initial development, I believe I have read that he has tweaked the SuperV crossover since then):

The Super V has a slight edge in resolution and detail levels. Vocals are slightly more natural sounding as well. Not huge, but clearly a little better sounding.

I truly am happy with mine.....actually happy is not the word, more like thrilled.
Even after all this time I still love em'.
I have heard some big $ makes......30k and up that I would not trade for mine.

I think my biggest problem is that I have built so many DIY kits in the last few yrs that
maybe I'm just looking for something to keep my self busy with.....now that I'm suppose
to be done building cabinets.....perhaps I'm not.

I have so many different arrays and subs that I've assembled, along with the factory ones
I still own taking up space.......maybe I'm just addicted to the thrill of the build....lol

Well, since the bigger driver wont fit my opening, maybe this winter i will have to build another
set of cabs.......and consider selling some of my other gear to make room.
I KNOW that would make my wife happy.............
